DRAWING WALK – The Hurlers Stone Circles (Family walkshop)

Karen Howse

May 6, 2026

Join Karen & Laurie to experience The Hurlers Stone Circles through meditation & drawing.

The Hurlers are an incredible complex of 3 stone circles standing on Bodmin Moor close to Minions village. These late Neolithic, early Bronze Age circles sit amongst an ancient ‘ceremonial landscape’, of cists, carns, barrows & standing stones on the Moor.

We will explore the site together, circling the stone circles & visiting the outlier Piper standing stones. We will then gather together to make some stoney drawing experiments, using chunky graphite sticks, charcoal and pencil on a variety of found papers. No art experience needed, just a openness to enjoy the process.

Karen Howse is an artist wanderer based in Launceston. Her 2025 exhibition at Lanstefan Arts ‘Stones, rocks and other beings’ explored Fernacre stone circle, near Rough Tor, with printmaking and drawing.

Laurie Gutteridge is an intentional space holder. Her work is rooted in presence & simplicity and is shaped by the natural cycles of life.
