RE:VISION, 16th edition of the East Wing Biennial exhibition at the Courtauld Institute of Art, will open on September 24th, 2025.

RE:VISION brings together artists who respond to the past, reconciling it with the present to avoid the pitfalls of history. Their work resists erasure and reclaims autonomy by challenging what endures and what expires; rethinking, reinventing and reconstructing to instigate the potential for the future to change. Artists include Yinka Shonibare, Jeff Wall and Pipilotti Rist. Opening night events include performances by Maria Gvardeitseva and Gracie Schylling.

Melanie Stidolph’s work ‘The next dawn, the next spring’ will be screened on the opening night in a film programme including work by ORLAN and Jeremy Deller.

Founded in 1991 in the East Wing of Somerset House by Joshua Compston, the student-led exhibition is dedicated to displaying contemporary art in the institute. It reflects the ideas, concerns and creative ambitions of the Courtauld’s student body. Following a brief hiatus during the Courtauld Institute’s temporary relocation, the Biennial was revived in 2023 with its inaugural edition in Vernon Square, King’s Cross. Over its 16 editions, the project has developed into an exciting forum for young curators and artists and pertinent cultural conversations.

Opening night – 24 September 2025. Exhibition runs until Autumn 2026.
