MAKE Southwest: Exhibitor Announcement

May 1, 2026

We are pleased to announce the makers that have been selected for the Design Frontier showcase at MAKE Southwest.

The showcase will run between August 2026 and January 2027, with each guest maker being featured for two months, both in MAKE Southwest‘s shop in Bovey Tracey and online.

Roxanne Gilbert

Roxanne Gilbert is a contemporary jewellery artist based in Falmouth, creating intricate wearable sculptures informed by the textures, tones and prismatic qualities of light within the natural world — from the repetition of feathers and scales to the luminosity of the moon and ever-shifting skies.

Using precious and reactive metals, Roxanne combines traditional silversmithing techniques alongside modern technologies to create unique, bold jewellery. She explores the movement of light across surfaces, where depth, gradient and reflection combine to produce luminosity. Through her practice, she seeks to translate moments of natural awe into tactile, contemplative forms.

Roxanne’s work will be at MAKE Southwest in August and September 2026.

Jessica Hewitt

Jessica launched her jewellery brand in 2005 after earning a First Class Honors degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing from Birmingham City University. Since then, she has been honing her designs and enhancing her skills, always eager to embrace new learning opportunities. After relocating to the coast and welcoming two children, she finds inspiration in her surroundings, particularly the breathtaking Cornish coastline. She crafts her pieces from recycled silver, incorporating various finishes like oxidising and gold plating. Her designs often evolve during the creation process, with gemstones and pearls adding subtle hues and elegance. She enjoys exploring scale and patterns in both two and three dimensions, creating modern heirlooms that can be cherished for years to come.

Jessica’s work will be at MAKE Southwest in October and November 2026.

Klys Ceramics

Klys Ceramics is run by Emma from a small pottery studio on the north coast of Cornwall. Working with local Cornish clay, she makes wheel-thrown ceramics with simple, tactile and gently flowing forms, designed to be used and enjoyed every day.

Emma’s work will be at MAKE Southwest in December 2026 and January 2027.

Melanie Stidolph

Melanie Stidolph works from Porthmeor Studios, St Ives. She studied Fine Art at The University of Leeds and MA Fine Art at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Her work gained recognition for its attention to understated subjects: poised between the staged and documentary traditions of photography. Her practice has since developed from an expression of grief and longing and through inviting others to make work with her. Forthcoming exhibitions in Redruth, Newquay and Berlin and collaboration with the all female Morris dancing side THE WAD.

“Dark Shining Wolf is a new venture, an alter ego; the title comes from the meanings of my three given names. This first collection of three scarves features stills from 16mm films of rock, pools, and quarries in Cornwall. Scarves are for dressing up, for taming your hair in the wind, for matching with your whippet (my dog Lincoln would have loved this) and showing solidarity by wearing shared symbols.”

Melanie’s work will be at MAKE Southwest in December 2026 and January 2027.
