I was thrilled to join nine fellow enamellers from the @guildofenamellers for a six-day residency in Denmark. Our international group included three from Denmark, one from France, and the rest from the UK.
We spent long, rewarding days — 9am to 9pm — in the workshop at Ravstedhus, making full use of their fantastic facilities. A special thanks to Tom Lundsten of enamelsupply.com for generously providing us with beautiful enamels to work with.
During the residency, I had the opportunity to explore the intricate technique of plique-à-jour and also practise painting with finely ground enamel suspended in water, layering it delicately for detailed results.
This immersive experience has left me feeling inspired and energised. I’m excited to continue developing both techniques and creating new work influenced by my time in Denmark.
