Coming soon in Studio 10: South West Artist Residency at East Quay

This year’s South West Artist Residency at East Quay in Watchet has been awarded to Maya Ronchetti. Residency between 22.11.2025 – 04.01.2026.

Based in Falmouth, multi-media artist Maya Ronchetti works with natural dyes, textiles, and other found, natural materials to create sculptures and installations which explore our relationship with technology, colonialism and cultural ideals.

Fabric and hay have become a visual language through which she explores themes including witchcraft, mythology, symbolism and chance through the lens of appropriation and idealised views of nature. Traces of materials and found objects are often repurposed, taking on new meanings within large-scale installations. Spaces are transformed into environments where all the senses are stimulated.

During her residency at East Quay, Maya would like to continue working with hay, but explore working in detail and being more tentative with it. She’s looking forward to working so close to the harbour and learning about its long history as a piece of land where many people have passed through.
