Through painting, installation, and reclaimed domestic objects, Melanie Young’s exhibition explores motherhood and inheritance, and asks how personal and collective memory intersect in the present.
She is drawn to the tension between what is revealed and what remains concealed—how memory flickers between presence and absence, and how inherited structures shape our sense of self. The immediacy of paint and the physicality of installation serve as tools to engage with the emotional weight of family history, particularly as it is carried by women.
